Araçariguama erstreckt sich über 145 Quadratkilometer in einer Höhe von 695 Metern im Bundesstaat São Paulo, 40 Kilometer von der Hauptstadt entfernt.
Araçariguama wurde 1653 gegründet und entwickelte sich von einer kleinen Gemeinde zu einem bedeutenden Industriezentrum im Bundesstaat São Paulo.
Die Igreja Matriz von Araçariguama stellt ein bedeutendes Beispiel brasilianischer Kolonialarchitektur in der Region dar.
